Description
This 2.5-hour program and guided tour will talk about the unique adaptations owls have made that allow them to be such capable hunters, and how they use their senses to survive and thrive in the dark. We will keep our eyes and ears open and hopefully catch a glimpse or hear one of the many owls that call Shiloh home, as well as possibly other nocturnal creatures that might be out in the dark as well.
Anyone interested in participating in the two and a half-hour presentation hike is invited to register in advance by calling the park at 731-689-5696. Participants should meet the ranger at the Shiloh Visitors center at 6:00 pm.
Hikers should bring a flashlight since this program will take place starting at dusk and continue after dark. Flashlights should have a red mode setting, or the light should be covered with red cellophane in order to preserve visitors' and wildlife's night vision. If you do not have red cellophane, the staff will have some on hand for you.
Please wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking and bring water and wear weather appropriate clothing.
Rain or severe weather will cancel the program.
