Fort Dupont and Fort Davis Drives Rehabilitation

Project Information


The National Park Service has completed the rehabilitation of Fort Dupont and Fort Davis Drives! As part of the work the National Park Service:

  • Repaved all of Fort Dupont Drive and Fort Davis Drive
  • Completed a full depth reconstruction on the parts of Fort Dupont Drive and Fort Davis Drive that needed it most
  • Built a new parking area at the Lanham Estates Picnic Area
  • Converted the Lanham Estates Loop Road into a walking trail
  • Improved stormwater management systems (sewers and drainage ditches) along park roads

The new parking area at the Lanham Estates Picnic Area will accommodate park visitors who are visiting hiking trails, going biking, participating in Civil War and environmental education programs, or attending special events.
 
 

Schedule and Work Phases


The Fort Dupont and Fort Davis Drives rehabilitation project happened in multiple parts. All work is now complete, and the parts included:

  • Phase 1 (Red) - Complete on December 16, 2018.
  • Phase 2 (Yellow) - Complete on May 14, 2019.
  • Phase 3 (Green) - Complete on April 14, 2019.
  • Phase 4 (Blue) - Complete on April 14, 2019.
  • Lanham Estates Loop Road Closure (Purple) - Complete on May 16, 2019.
  • Ridge Picnic Area (Orange) - Complete on May 16, 2019.
